Antiquity TL1 LED Infinity Mirror Electric Guitar

£462.00

This guitar started life as a brand new Antiquity TL1 Electric Guitar and has been professionally customised by myself to incorporate a LED infinity mirror. Check out the Youtube video here:

The guitar was purchased from the PMT (Play Music Today) UK online store specifically for the following modification :-

  • The black guitar body has been precision milled using a CNC machine to create a semi-hollow body. The depth of milling has been minimised to retain good body strength whilst the guitar is under tension by the strings.
  • An addressable RGB LED strip has been fitted around the inside perimeter of the semi-hollow body, held in place by 3D printed black PETG grips. This design allows for easy replacement of the RGB LED strip if required.
  • Two CNC milled acrylic mirrors fitted inside and on top of the semi-hollow body.
  • Single coil neck pickup fitted for the sound to light effect (not connected to the output jack).
  • Custom fitted Hot Rail bridge pickup for minimal noise from the LEDs.
  • Original Antiquity TL1 volume pot, tone pot and jack.
  • The back of the body contains the battery power switch and housing for four 1.2V AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (NOT INCLUDED) and the ATmega microprocessor. These are enclosed by a 3D printed black PETG cover. Access for inserting/removing of batteries can be achieved via the sliding ‘maton design’ white logo cover.
  • The RGB LED light strip can be controlled using the keypad (CR2032 battery included) which is held in place by a 3D printed black PETG surround fitted to the back of the guitar body.

The above modification allows for normal use/playing of the guitar with no extra connections (e.g. USB or external power supplies).

The fitted RGB LED strip is rated at 5 Volts and therefore four AA 1.2 Volt NiMH Rechargeable batteries are required:- 2500 mAh (or more) capacity is highly recommended and should keep the LEDs lit for around 3 hours when the LEDs are all white. However, choosing to light only red LEDs, for example, will minimise the battery power consumption and hence the LEDs operate for longer.

DO NOT USE 1.5 VOLT NON-RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES!

I have designed this guitar modification for the performing musician, hence it is robust and looks incredible on stage. However, this guitar could also be used as decorative wall art in a shop, restaurant etc…e.g. with a little soldering and basic electrical knowledge, one could further mod the guitar to run off a d.c. 5v (2 Amps or more) power supply instead of batteries.

The custom fitted Hot Rail pickup considerably reduces any noise interference from the LEDs to a practical and useable level that can barely be heard. That said, a notch filter/parametric EQ set to around 4kHz could eliminate the remaining low level interference but it’s not essential.

New 10-46 D’Addario strings have been fitted and the string height/action measurement images are on the 12th fret.

The price for this item is based on:-

  • time for research/development,
  • the cost of extra hardware parts + Antiquity TL1 electric guitar,
  • time spent designing the CNC files,
  • milling time,
  • time designing the 3D printed parts,
  • 3D print time,
  • assembly and testing,

Please do message me if you have any questions/queries:-)

The guitar and new black material gig bag will be posted in a sturdy cardboard box (and inner cardboard box) with further paper packing. So double packed;-)
